New York Knicks head coach David Fizdale’s seat is heating up
The New York Knicks are off to another disappointing start to their season, and the honeymoon for their head coach has ended
Sunday night’s embarrassing home loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers dropped the New York Knicks record to 2-8 on the young season. The second straight Sunday of losses against beatable teams has resulted in plenty of displeasure from fans and management with head coach David Fizdale.
The Knicks were entering this season with a better roster minus the hopeful marquee names. The additions of free agent Julius Randle and prized lottery pick RJ Barrett were signs of optimism to build around a young core. Fizdale was supposed to be the perfect coach for such a collection of talent that would eventually grow into contenders for a playoff spot. Unfortunately for fans, it seems like another lost year with plenty of fingers being pointed at the head coach.
"“We aren’t happy where we are. Said Knicks’ team president, Steve Mills, according to ESPN. ”This is not where we expected to be…(Jim Dolan) still believes in the plan that we put together.”"
The Knicks were run off their own court again as their opponents have no fear heading into the famous Madison Square Garden arena. The issue hasn’t been sufficiently narrowed down as of yet, but the most glaring problem is the lack of consistent lineup rotations due to personal problems, injuries and poor play. Fizdale is the head coach, so he is immediately the first person people will look at during this losing skid.
Fizdale heard the boos first hand at home spoke with the media after the game with a very calm and hopeful demeanor.
"“I live in that sense of urgency. Said Fizdale, I don’t need anyone to speak to give me a sense of urgency. I’m not cruising through this thing, acting like I’ve got a bunch of time to get a team together.”"
Knicks fans have been through the string of losing seasons for far too long and are already starting down the barrel of another lost year. It’s still November, so things could turn around, but a spark is needed from the players, coaching staff, and front office.
