Giants vs Jets at Metlife Stadium – EWB Staff Predictions

This matchup might not be a must-watch this Sunday except for Giants and Jets fans. This will show which New York team is superior. I say that lightly though, we all know both teams have been disappointments this season. The Giants are currently 2-7 and are on a five-game losing streak while the Jets are 1-7 and lost to the woeful Miami Dolphins last Sunday.
The last time these two teams met in the regular season was in 2015 where the Jets made a fourth-quarter comeback to win 23-20.
Quarterbacks Daniel Jones and Sam Darnold should be the central focus. These two are key parts of the future of their respective teams. While Jones has not been playing as well as he did when he became the starter in Week 3, its still his team. He’s has been average and is overshadowed by the New York Giants losses.
If the Giants play this game right, it can show that Jones is ready to be their starter. Darnold, on the other hand, has not lived up to what fans had wanted this season. Although illness set him back, earlier in the season.
Darnold has not looked exceptional and that’s a part of the reason why the Jets are declining. It’s not entirely on the second-year signal-caller, but it should be expected that he drives the team. Gang Green needs Darnold to get back into his old form, but the coaching has got to improve as well.
This game has the potential to be an exciting watch or it could be really bad. The Giants do seem to have the advantage as the team has one more win than the Jets, and their players have just looked more reliable overall. This is the opportunity for the G-Men to prove they are further into their rebuild while the Jets are still behind.
While both teams are dealing with their travails, the Giants have the edge because with players like Jones and Barkley the team has just played better than the Jets.
