Giants vs Jets at Metlife Stadium – EWB Staff Predictions

Neither team has been very impressive through the midway point of the regular season. The Giants and the Jets have records of 2-7 and 1-7 respectively. Both teams can use a win for momentum and a confidence boost as they approach the second half of the season. It will be interesting to see how the two young quarterbacks, Daniel Jones, and Sam Darnold play in their first matchup together.
The Jets need to show resolve after their embarrassing loss to the then winless Miami Dolphins last Sunday. Adam Gase, head coach of the New York Jets, has been facing intense scrutiny because of that loss and an overall disappointing start to the Jets season.
Many fans believed that the signing of star running back Le’Veon Bell would start a winning culture within the organization. Unfortunately, he has not had the season that some thought he would. The running back only has two rushing touchdowns this season and has not run for more than 75 yards any game this year. It is still unknown how effective Bell will be this Sunday due to the knee injury he suffered last week.
However, Gase does think he will be good to go for the game. The key to a New York Giants victory falls on the shoulders, more probably the feet of their superstar running back in Saquon Barkley. Similar to Bell, he has not had an incredibly strong season so far, only having two rushing touchdowns, as well.
Despite their record, there is something Gang Green fans can be happy about on defense. The New York Jets are sixth in rushing yards allowed per game (89.2) and are first in rushing yards allowed per carry (3.1). This will be crucial if the Jets want to prevent a Giants victory at Metlife. I still believe that Barkley will have a strong game against the stout run defense of the Jets and that Big Blue will win 27-20.
