Mets to change the course of history with Beltran as manager

Beltran is a risk. Hey, no risk no reward. The goal is always to minimize risk and try and get the most out of the deal. That applies in investing and it applies to Major League Baseball. Beltran should be less risky than some of the other candidates that were brought in.
To refer back to Carlos Beltran’s character, I am reminded of the press conference when he asked to say a few words in Spanish. He looked at the cameras and said to his Mother and Father, “Bendicion.”

That is a Puerto Rican custom of respect towards your parents asking for their blessings. It is common every time you greet your parents. He choked up then and it reminded me of the times I said that to my parents.
But New York Mets fans want games played in October. General Manager Brodie van Wagenen has made it clear that is the organization’s goal. Beltran and the Amazins cannot afford another summer collapse like they had this past season. The honeymoon with Beltran may end faster than it started because it’s all about delivering results and patience is thin.
New York came up short of their target in 2019. Many teams in the postseason breathed a sigh of relief. After all, the Mets finished 2019 with a 12-7 record against the World Champion Washington Nationals.
On the surface, Beltran may have some short-comings as a Major League manager. It is his character, life lessons, upbringing, and setbacks; his respect for his parents and as well as his humbleness that make him a very special leader for the 2020 Mets and beyond.
