Giants: Optimist’s guide to second half of 2019 season
By Ed Stein
Schedule
The G-Men could win another six games in the second half of 2019. It sure as heck won’t be easy, but the potential is there. Of all their opponents in the next eight games, only Dallas (4-3), Monday night, and Green Bay (7-1) on December 1, have a better than a .500 record right now. The other six have a combined 13-32 record. A further breakdown will show why Big Blue has a shot to win so many.
Dallas has been beat up, especially on their defensive line which gave the New York Giants fits in the season opener. Their offensive lineman have been banged as well and the Cowboys can be had. Heck, they lost to the Jets a few weeks ago.

Speaking of the Jets, they are Big Blue’s opponents the following week. So far Gang Green has not been able to get out of their own way, except for Dallas. This matchup listed as a road game for the G-Men, but of course it isn’t. Of the two rebuilding New York teams the Giants are the ones who seem better equipped to win this one. Leonard Williams will have something to prove against his former team.
After a bye week, which means NYG will have been sleeping in their own beds for close to a month, the Giants head to Chicago. This year the Bears are not who we thought they were. They may still be the Monsters of the Midway on defense, but their offense is dismal.
Two of the final four games are against the two worst teams in the league, Miami and Washington. Those games should go into the Giants win column. A pair of matchups with Philadelphia surround the ones versus the basement teams. Philly is not the team they were a few years ago when they won the Super Bowl. Big Blue can win one or both against the Iggles.
So there it is. Improvements on offense and defense as well as a schedule which is not as difficult as first thought means the New York Giants are in for much better results in the second half of the season. The way things ae going 8-8 could win the NFC East.
