In less than a week, the hottest pitcher of the 2019 MLB Season Gerrit Cole will become a free agent. How much money should the New York Yankees give Cole this off-season? All of It!!!

The New York Yankees have missed out on the Gerrit Cole sweeptakes a few times in the past. If the Bronx Bombers want to bring a 28th championship back to New York City, the best pitcher in the game must be apart of it. Just think about this for a second, the Yankees pitching staff next season could be a very formidable five man rotation consisting of Cole, James Paxton, Masahiro Tanaka, Luis Severino, and J.A. Happ.

The Astros ace put up classic Cy Young numbers during the regular season with a 20-5 record, 2.50 ERA, and his 326 strikeouts led the majors. Cole was even deadly in the playoffs with a 1.72 ERA. Houston lost the World Series to MVP Stephen Strasburg (he has an opt out option) and the Washington Nationals. Even if Strasburg decides to test the market, Cole should still be the free agent pitcher the Yankees acquire.

Cole is everything a team would want or need as an ace in any starting rotation. To be honest, he is the pitcher the evil empire desperately needs. This is a guy that can give a team a good six innings or more everytime he steps on a mound. The New Tork Yankees haven’t had anyone like that on the pitching staff for quite sometime now. Severino was once looked at as the future of the rotation, but injuries along with poor Octobe performances has hindered him.

At 29-years-old Cole can be a franchise ace for the next three-to-four years. That’s the championship window Yankees GM Brian Cashman should be targeting. With Houston and AL East Division rival Boston brining most of the core players back next season, the time to build a powerhouse team is now. The New York Yankees must sign Gerrit Cole, But will they break the bank to do it? We will soon find out.

Next. Mets hiring of Beltran is a repeat of the same mistake. dark
