Rutgers-centric Big Ten Football Power Rankings Week 9, 2019

6. Wisconsin (Ranked 17th, 6-2, 3-2)

Last Week at No. 3 Ohio State: Even though they lost 38-7, the Badgers put up a good fight two-and-a-half quarters. They only trailed 3-0, before Ohio State scored a touchdown with 1:38 remaining in the first half. Indiana forced their hosts to punt on the opening possession of the second half which they partially blocked to set up a touchdown of their own, closing the gap to 10-7. Ohio State went on to score touchdowns on their next four possessions and that closed the book on any upset hopes. This Week: Bye.

5. Iowa (19th, 6-2, 3-2)

Last Week at Northwestern: Iowa pitched a shutout on the road at Northwestern, winning by a final score of 20-0. The Hawkeyes defense only gave up 202 total yards and intercepted a pass. Their offense didn’t have their “A” game but managed to put up points in all four quarters. This Week: Bye.

4. Michigan (14th, 6-2, 3-2)

Last Week vs No. 8 Notre Dame: Michigan needed to win thisone badly and they came to do battle against Notre Dame. This game was never close, as the Wolverines had a 21-0 halftime lead and poured it on from there. They did it by running it right at the Irish. Michigan backs carried 57 times for 303 yards and three touchdowns. Their defense was relentless, they allowed the eighth-ranked team only 180 yards. This Week at Maryland: To quote Queen “Don’t stop me now, I’m having such a good time.” Michigan will put a hurting on the Terps.
