Sorting it out

To me, of all the candidates involved, the best choice is Carlos Beltran. True, he has no managerial experience, but neither did Alex Cora (Boston), Kevin Cash (Tampa Bay), Rocco Baldelli (Minnesota), Dave Martinez (Washington), and Dave Roberts (Los Angeles) to name a few before they accepted their current jobs.

The Puerto Rico native is a gamer and a strategist. He gained the respect of many for his baseball intellect as he helped Alex Cora and A.J. Hinch lead the Astros to a 2017 World Series title. At that time, Beltran was in the waning days of a great playing career and acted as an additional coach.

So who is the front-runner for the Mets vacancy? No one really knows. Still in the hunt are ESPN analyst Eduardo Perez, Twins bench coach Derek Shelton, former Mets shortstop and veteran MLB coach Tim Bogar, and current Mets quality control coach Luis Rojas.

Everyone involved with the process has their lips sealed. Good for them! Making a decision of this magnitude through social media is poor policy. The stakes are high and this is not a popularity contest.

We can all speculate, but at the end of the day, we will find out like everyone else, just keep up the suspense., BVW is content to let all interested looking at the back pages. His team is getting as much or more attention than the World Series.
