Joe Girardi

Joe Girardi knows New York baseball and how to win in the Big Apple. He wants to be here and the fans want him here. The ex-Yankees manager seems eager at the chance of becoming the next New York Mets field general.  He recently announced that he would be stepping away from managing Team USA, which could mean a return to Major League Baseball is imminent.

If the Amazins are looking for a manager who is proven, it seems like Girardi is their guy. With none of the other candidates having major league experience, Girardi has an upper hand. If the New York Mets don’t want to take another risk on someone new like Callaway, then this should be an easy decision.

Girardi can come into a very talented team with a general manager who is still learning and take some of the pressure off of Brodie Van Wagenen. He knows how to manage a clubhouse and how to get the best out of his players. He was named National League Manager of the Year in 2006 when he was with the Marlins. The former major league catcher went on to win a 2009 World Championship in the Bronx

Girardi is currently interviewing with the Philadelphia Phillies and Chicago Cubs, so if the Mets really want him, they might have to act fast.
