The Vets

Veteran Players who will make an impact

Marcus Morris

Marcus Morris played 28 minutes in the last preseason game. He scored a respectable 14 points and added a strong eight rebounds. Morris will bring that edge and player who’s willing to fight to prove to the world the Knicks aren’t to be bullied, especially on the defensive end.

Morris’ toughness will continue to be contagious. Power players such as Julius Randle and Mitchell Robinson will benefit greatly from having a player of his caliber and mentality to lean on when the game gets physical. Every team needs an in your face player who can stand up for his teammates.

Julius Randle

Julius Randle Was the New York Knicks big off-season signing. He’s shown that he can be a consistent scoring machine in his five NBA seasons. Teaming Randle with Robinson makes for a great tandem in the frontcourt.

Randle will provide the much need offensive punch in the paint that the Knicks were missing last year. The knock on him has always been his defense. But during the preseason Randle showed great potential to play hard and use his hands well to force turnovers.

Robinson and Bobby Portis, who love playing physical and specialize in blocking shots, will help the former Kentucky Wildcats star stay out of foul trouble. If Randle can stay healthy, he will continue building on his previous year’s production which would be a huge windfall for the Knicks.

Dennis Smith Jr.

So much is riding on solidifying that point guard spot. You can see the difference and focus in Smith’s shot. It didn’t fall consistently during the preseason but it will all for him and when it does he will be an amazing weapon for Fizdale.

Smith’s natural drive and dunk ability can’t be understated. He brings the quickness desired to score quickly. His strength and ball-handling ability, while he’s slashing to the basket, are a joy to watch.  Ideally, Smith would be the point guard to lead this team with his revamped jump shot.
