The New York Giants have been without their top wide receiver due to injury, but Sterling Shepard has kept busy as a player and father.

As the New York Giants prepare for their Week 8 opponent the Detroit Lions, it’s still uncertain if they will have receiver Sterling Shepard back in the lineup. Shepard has missed several games due to the NFL’s concussion protocol, not allowing him to be medically cleared for on-field contact.

The former Oklahoma Sooner was at MacArthur Playground in Manhattan, Tuesday morning partnering with Pampers to install changing tables as part of Make a Difference Day.

”Feeling great,” said Shepard in an exclusive interview with Empire Writes Back about his injury recovery, ”just taking it how it comes listening to the doctors.”

Shepard was joined at the event by his wife Chanel Iman and daughter Cali Clay Shepard.

”Me just being a father about to be a father of two you realize how difficult it is to change a baby in public restrooms, said Shepard, there are not many changing tables, it’s something Pampers is trying to change”

As for Shepard’s assessment of his diaper changing ability, ”My changing skills are A1, quick fast, and it’s clean.”

Shepard, along with other NFL dads across the country, will be helping to install changing tables as part of Pampers’ commitment to install 5,000 changing tables all across North America by 2021.

”It is great that he’s (Shepard) here highlighting the important situation,” said New York City Comptroller Scott Stringer, ”Us dad’s gotta do our share of the changing.”

The 26-year-old has caught 25 passes for 267 yards and a touchdown in four games this season. Most of his career receptions have come from Eli Manning, but with the recent change to rookie Daniel Jones, Shepard has adapted quickly to the new quarterback.

”It’s been great; said Shepard, we’ve been doing a good job of just how staying after practices hitting whatever we need to hit for game day, everybody’s been doing a great job preparing for games.”

The Giants are 2-5 and in need of a big win to keep their playoff hopes alive. The return of their top receiver can go a long way in pushing the team to another level.
