The Elite

These are the best teams in the conference.

3. Penn State Nittany Lions (7th, 6-0, 3-0)

Last Week: PSU picked up a 17-12 win at Iowa. It wasn’t pretty by any stretch of the imagination, but a conference win on the road against a ranked team is a good thing, no matter how it looks. Defensive tackle Robert Windsor was a pain in Iowa’s side. The senior had six tackles, but 2.5 of them were for a loss of yards including 1.5 sacks. He also had a pair of quarterback hurries.

This week vs No. 16 Michigan. This is the Big Ten’s marquee game of the week in primetime Saturday night. James Franklin‘s team can make a big move in the rankings with a win, potentially setting up a playoff knockout game on November 23 at Ohio State (provided both teams keep winning). Home field advantage will be huge for Penn State.

2. Wisconsin Badgers (6th, 6-0, 3-0)

Last Week: Wisconsin pitched a shutout at home against Michigan State winning 38-0. Leading 17-0, heading into the fourth quarter, Wisconsin scored three touchdowns in a 2:46 span to put this one away. Their defense was stifling, holding MSU to a lowly 149 yards. The D was rewarded for their hard work with a pick-six by linebacker Zack Baun.

This Week at Illinois. Head Coach Paul Chryst has this program going in the right direction again after a fall-off in 2018. Chryst is 48-12 since his arrival in Madison and he didn’t get there by losing games to bad teams. This Saturday should be no exception. The Badgers win big on the road.

1. Ohio State Buckeyes (4th, 6-0, 3-0)

Last Week: Ohio State had the week off. This Week at Northwestern: Justin Fields and the Buckeyes offense will steamroll their hosts. The Sophomore has thrown for 1298 yards and 18 touchdowns so far in 2019 and should add some big numbers to those totals. Ohio State’s average margin of victory is over 40 points per game, they’ll be close to it this week.
