Luke Falk shouldn’t be starting

The narrative behind Falk not being good enough to start for the Jets is a pretty obvious conclusion to the millions that have watched him struggle over the past three weeks. Falk entered Sunday’s game with a 37.3 passer rating and continued to have issues with a secondary that featured players that just joined the team over a week ago.

The cries for Darnold are louder than they have ever been considering the state of the position. It was a cruel joke to see former Jets quarterback Josh McCown replace Wentz late in the game almost as a subtle shot at the franchise. Darnold was notably a student under McCown up until his brief retirement as the Jets had chosen to move on with a younger backup core. The decision to not value a veteran quarterback is rearing its ugly head to start the 2019 season.

The options in free agency aren’t great, to say the least, but the front office should’ve been more aggressive in pursuing a trade for a formidable quarterback. There are plenty of veterans serving as backups in the league that would’ve been worth the trade, especially at this early juncture in the season. The Jets are currently in a tailspin with the most critical position on the field, and even with a healthy Darnold will have a huge uphill battle to climb in ore=der to turn the season around.
