Comparing the Yankees roster to the Twins

The Yankees have had one of the best lineups in baseball this season despite all of their injuries. With 306 home runs, the Yankees were one dinger being Minnesota league and were very impressive on all fronts. No matter who is at the plate the Yankees have a dangerous lineup. Whether it be Aaron Judge, DJ LeMahieu or Brett Gardner, the Yankees struck fear in opposing pitchers and should continue throughout the playoffs.

Not only that but going into the ALDS the Yankees are more healthy than they have been all season. Center fielder Aaron Hicks is their only injured starter. For this reason, the New York Yankees will be a tough team to beat in the postseason.

This is what the lineup will likely look like in the ALDS:

  1. DJ LeMahieu 1B
  2. Aaron Judge RF
  3. Didi Gregorius SS
  4. Gary Sanchez C
  5. Giancarlo Stanton LF
  6. Gio Urshela 3B
  7. Edwin Encarnacion DH
  8. Gleyber Torres 2B
  9. Brett Gardner CF

First baseman Luke Voit has been in somewhat of a slump lately so in an effort to keep LeMahieu, Urshela and Torres in the lineup, Voit will come off the bench.

As for the Twins, they have also been very potent this season as they have averaged nearly six runs per game. Jorge Polanco, Eddie Rosario, Nelson Cruz, and Max Kepler have been huge for Minnesota. The quartet has combined for 131 home runs, 386 RBI and 377 runs.

More from New York Yankees

Minnesota’s lineup isn’t as deep as the Yankees but they are still very impressive nonetheless. The question is, how will they fare against the Yankees? In six games against the Yankees this season they have scored a total of 38 runs but lost the season series with four losses and only two wins. If this is any indication, there will be a plethora of runs on both sides.

This is what the Twins lineup will likely look like for the ALDS:

  1. Mitch Graver C
  2. Jorge Polanco SS
  3. Nelson Cruz DH
  4. Eddie Rosario RF
  5. Miguel Sano 3B
  6. Luis Arraez LF
  7. C.J. Cron 1B
  8. Byron Buxton CF
  9. Jonathan Schoop 2B

The Yankees are going to have their hands full in the ALDS but if the regular-season series against Minnesota was any indication of what’s to come, there won’t be too much to fret about.
