New York Giants Zeroes and Heroes of Game 4 vs Washington
By Ed Stein
The New York Giants had a convincing win Sunday at home 24-3 over their division rivals from Washington. Here are our Zeroes and Heroes from the game.
Another game, another win for New York Giants rookie quarterback Daniel Jones. He led Big Blue to an NFC East win over the Washington Redskins last Sunday at MetLife Stadium, making his record 2-0 as a starter.
Touchdowns by Wayne Gallman on their first two drives of the game gave the New York Giants a 14-0 cushion. The first score came after a Skins turnover, barely a minute into the game when starter Case Keenum threw an interception to Giants linebacker Ryan Connelly off a tip at the Washington 32 yard line. The G-Men methodically moved the ball to the end zone in eight plays culminating with a six-yard TD catch by Gallman.
On their next possession, the G-Men were pinned down at there own six-yard line after a nice punt by Washington’s Tress Way, Jones went to work again taking his team down the field, 96 yards in 13 plays. The rookie was four of six for 47 yards. Gallman added a 24-yard run, followed by a goal-line TD plunge two plays later, to put an exclamation point on the drive.
Both teams fell apart after that. Jones threw interceptions on their next two possessions. That’s a bit of an understatement, Jones threw picks to Quinton Dunbar on two of the Giants next three plays after the second touchdown. NYG and Washington exchanged field goals before the half and that was the end of scoring for either offense.
Giants safety Jabril Peppers took an interception to the house for a pick-six in the third quarter to put an additional six points on the scoreboard.
