The 2019 New York Yankees are American League East champions due in large part to the efforts of second-year manager Aaron Boone.

The New York Yankees are once again headed to the Major League Baseball postseason and this time as a division champion. Manager Aaron Boone is in only his second season as the Yankees skipper and has already secured back to back 100 win campaigns.

The greatness of Boone’s skills were showcased throughout the season with a slew of injuries threatening to derail the team early in the year. All-Star players Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, Luis Severino, and Gary Sanchez all fell victim to the “Injured List” curse at significant points in the summer. The process of replacing star players is no easy matter, but Boone found hidden gems throughout the franchise’s farm system.

Gio Urshela was a young infielder known prominently for his skill defensively became one of the best hitters in the American League all season. Domingo German went from being a spot starter to a critical component of the starting rotation before his season was cut short due to off the field legal issues. A group of journeyman names like Mike Tauchman, Mike Ford and Cameron Maybin played essential roles in the Yankees quest for their first division title since 2012.

Boone’s passion for his team has been on full display all season with his fiery attitude against umpires earning him five ejections. The latest toss out didn’t provide a fun nickname like “savages” in his postgame press conference, as said by Brendan Kuty of NJ.com, but it did reveal his devotion to doing right by the players.

"“I like to think I’m always in control of my emotions,” said Boone, There’s times that I’m going to fight and I think it’s necessary. As hard as we are on our guys about controlling the strike zone and how much we demand of them in that regard, it’s something that I’m passionate about and I’m going to fight. I don’t want our guys leaving the strike zone. Looks, there are pitches all the time that I may disagree with. That’s part of the game and that happens but there are times when I feel necessary to stand up."

What the New York Yankees should expect without Domingo German. dark. Next

The Yankees will need all of Boone’s passion and fight as they look to add another title in the Bronx. The only claim that should be guaranteed at this point is the American League Manager of the year award.
