Maximize opportunities

The National Football League champions its parity. There is little margin for error no matter who a team plays (excluding the 2019 Miami Dolphins). So when opportunities present themselves, it’s paramount to take advantage of them. The New York Giants let several of those opportunities slip through their fingers on Sunday.

There are so many examples from Sunday’s game of blowing opportunities. Aldric Rosas missed a very makeable field goal in the second quarter. It might have made a strategy difference, but we will never know because it didn’t happen. Dropped passes reared their ugly head especially Bennie Fowler’s drop in the fourth quarter.

The Giants had a good drive going on their next possession but Manning had his pass tipped at the line and Trent Murphy from Buffalo was able to make a nice play for an interception. Big Blue had not one, but two opportunities to do the same in the second half and couldn’t make a play.

Maybe the biggest opportunity killer on Sunday was bad penalties. Whether it was T.J. Jones lined up wrong or Dexter Lawrence hitting the center on a punt, the G-Men don’t have the luxury of making those mistakes.
