Big Blue was soundly beaten in Dallas last week. Here are three keys for the New York Giants to turn it around Sunday against Buffalo.

1. WIN IN THE TRENCHES

The New York Giants improved their offensive line and though they couldn’t walk away with much to be excited about against Dallas. The Giants offense actually did an above-average job in opening up some decent running lanes and creating seams for each running back.

If the New York Giants are to stand a punchers chances against an improved Bills defense who locked down the New York Jets in the second half of their game in week one. They will have to come out and control the line of scrimmage.

This may sound basic and generic to the advanced football fan, but so often in the world of RPOs, West Coast football and dynamic playmaking, the fundamentals of the game are lost. This New York Giants team can not lose their fundamentals. They must look to fire out and impose their will on offense.

On the reverse side of that coin Big Blue’s defensive line must show some pride this week; stick out their chest a little bit and bow their backs. They were manhandled in week one. Dallas’ superior O-line blew them off the ball on runs and stone-walled the G-Men’s attempts at rushing the passer.

This can not happen in back to back weeks. The best defenses create pressure with their guys up front and then the blitz becomes the icing on the cake going forward. The New York Giants defenders must stop the run if nothing else. Shutting down the running attack of the Bills puts the game on Josh Allen‘s arm. I like the Giants chances with the sophomore QB throwing 40 plus times.

Dave Gettleman has done nothing but speak about hog mollies since he got the Giants GM position. The offensive line is much improved from last year, now it’s time to prove he knows how to draft defensive lineman that can make a difference. The team must get something special from this current group.
