Brooklyn Nets: 5 attainable goals for the 2019-20 season

2. Maximizing Caris LeVert’s progression
In the absence of Durant, and Wilson Chandler; Caris LeVert can propel himself to stardom. Last season, LeVert played 40 games (25 starts) averaging 13.7 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.9 assists. Additionally, he hit on 42.9 percent of his shots from the floor, including 31.2 percent from three-point land, as well as 69.1 percent from the charity stripe.
In three seasons with the Brooklyn Nets, LeVert has averaged 11.1 PPG, 3.6 RPG, 3.4 APG, 43.7 FG%, 33 3PT%, 70.7 FT% in 168 games and sixty-one starts.
When LeVert suffered his gruesome leg injury last November, he was averaging a team and career-high 19 points per game. Although he only played for about a month before his injury, LeVert showed his potential and capability to step up when the time comes.
With an impressive showing in the first round against the Philadelphia 76ers, LeVert proved he is already prepared for high-intensity playoff atmosphere. He led the team in scoring throughout the series (21 PPG). Levert also managed to shoot an above-average (also a team-high) clip beyond the arc at 46.2 percent and 49 percent from the field against the 76ers as well.
Furthermore, LeVert’s preexisting relationship with KD and Kyrie warrants a mention. He was surprised but happy when they both joined the Nets, citing KD as his “big brother” and Kyrie as a “great person to be around”. Also defending Kyrie’s character in July also shows how LeVert values his relationship with both stars and is happy to be their teammate.
This upcoming season, Kyrie and company will push LeVert by giving him more offensive freedom and opportunities to grow as a player. That will result in the formation of a big-three in Brooklyn in the near future. The constant obstacle standing in LeVert’s path to stardom is staying healthy. Brooklyn needs him on the court regularly since they will be shorthanded in terms of firepower.
