The New York Yankees will be close to full strength when the postseason rolls around, but in a season where they haven’t played a single game without at least one starter on the IL, what does this mean?

The New York Yankees have played around 150 games this season and not in one of those nearly 150 games have they played without at least one starter on the injured list. However, as the postseason nears, it looks as if the team could be as close to full strength as they can get.

Holders of the best record in Major League Baseball, the Bronx Bombers have succeeded without many key players, who will soon return. They were able to win with guys like Mike Tauchman, Mike Ford, Kyle Higashioka and Clint Frazier.

That’s a list of four players which many Yankees fans hadn’t even heard of prior to the beginning of the season. that list doesn’t even include Gio Urshela who has been one of the New York Yankees best players this season who didn’t even enter the season as a starter.

Fast forward to mid-September and several key players such as Giancarlo Stanton, Luis Severino, and Dellin Betances look as if they will be returning very soon, just in time for the postseason. They will join, Luke Voit and Edwin Encarnacion who came back to the team in the past week.

So with all these players returning from injuries that caused them to miss several months, what does that mean for the Yankees? Does it mean it will screw up the chemistry they have built, or does it mean they will put the best combination of nine players we have seen the Yankees put on the diamond so far this season?

These are questions that we won’t get answers to until it physically happens, but they are questions with answers that could go in several different directions.

There are four key players who could potentially be returning before the postseason begins, Stanton, Sabathia, Luis Severino, and Betances. These four players have played a combined 29 games this season with Sabathia claiming 20 of them and Stanton taking nine.

So what does that mean? Does it mean it’s going to take some time before we see them get back to full strength, or does it mean they will hit the ground running?

Next. Yankees must unleash Clint Frazier!!. dark

For the Yankees sake, one would hope it would be the latter, but we can’t know for sure. Optimally, these four players can return soon and get some practice with the team before the ALDS starts.
