Buffalo at New York Jets

Matthew Travis

The New York Jets will begin their 2019 season with a win over the Bills. The Jets had one of the biggest off-seasons in the NFL and in franchise history with the additions of Le’Veon Bell and Jamison Crowder. Adding both of these to Robby Anderson and Sam Darnold will do wonders for the Jets and because of it, they will start their season with a 24-13 win over the Bills.

New York Jets will dominate their matchup against the Buffalo Bills with substantial contributions from Le’Veon Bell. There won’t be much of an offensive effort from Buffalo because of the terrorizing Jets defense causing at least three turnovers on the day. Adam Gase picks up his first victory as head coach of the Jets with the final score of 28-10.

This was an extremely difficult game for me to predict. I think both of these teams are on the right track who could surprise some people and compete for a playoff spot this season. Overall, I like Buffalo a bit more as a team, but I have more faith in Sam Darnold than Josh Allen.

With the New York Jets being at home, I give them the edge. Le’Veon Bell is going to want to make an immediate impact and he will have an opportunity to do so both in the run game and as a receiver out of the backfield. The Bills defense is strong, but I think Darnold is ready for a bit of a breakout season. That starts in Week 1 when he and Bell lead the Jets to a close victory over the Bills.

The revamped Jets open at home this year in an intra-division game against Buffalo. Gang Green is a team on the rise and it all begins Sunday at MetLife Stadium. The fact is the New York Jets have a better football team and the better quarterback in Sam Darnold. The one thing they have to avoid is getting beat deep. It may take a quarter or so to show on the scoreboard, but this is an NYJ win, going away to open the season in style.
