New York Yankees: Aaron Judge is heating up at the right time
The New York Yankees are poised and ready for a deep run in the playoffs and are ecstatic with the recent play of star outfielder Aaron Judge.
The fall season is quickly approaching, and only the best in Major League Baseball qualifies to play in October. The New York Yankees are all but assured a trip to the postseason and are finally getting the red hot bat of Aaron Judge anchoring their lineup.
The Yankees slugger was slowed to begin the season due to injury but have since regained form and become a force in the lineup. The former Home Run Derby contest winner has rallied off an impressive six home runs out of eight games heading into Sunday’s matchup with the Oakland Athletics. New York has needed all the homers and effective at-bats to continue pushing their lead in the American League East.
Judge spoke recently with Kevin Kernan of the New York Post about the importance of hitting home runs late into the season and playoffs.
"“A game can swing just like that in October with home runs. You know, you can get on base, single, single. But if you have a team that can not only get on base, but also when those guys get on base and now there is a three-run home run, now you are up three. It just changes the whole dynamic of the game, especially in the postseason with how important every single pitch is, that makes the other team worry about it.”"

"“When you know one through nine can hit a home run and give you a great at-bat, it changes the whole game. And that is what we do, that’s the key to our success. We’re dangerous. That’s the bottom line.’’"
The Yankees have been without several vital bats throughout the season due to injury and have managed to maintain a stranglehold on the division with incredible individual efforts. Judge has come on strong to help carry the power department of the talented roster without the services of the banged-up Giancarlo Stanton still hoping to return this season.
The two-time all-star will be tested over the next few weeks as the Yankees will be trying to find rest for him during September call ups. The rest hopefully won’t affect his swing heading into the postseason but will effectively avoid re-aggravating any injuries.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone has some tough personnel decisions to make to keep his guys ready for the grind of October while avoiding more health issues.
