Brooklyn Nets: Should they sign Carmelo Anthony?
By Alan Mena
Final thoughts
With Brooklyn’s decision looming, will other teams try and sign Melo to avoid the Brooklyn Nets from potentially getting much better?
The word around the league is that Melo is still capable of contributing to a contender, which would be extremely helpful to the Nets this season. Brooklyn must be cautious, of course, and ensure that the development of their young core continues this season if Melo is signed.

Luckily for the Brooklyn Nets, Anthony is at a point in his career where he will be happy to contribute to any team (especially a contender) and avoid infringing the development of the young core (LeVert, Harris, Allen, Dinwiddie, etc).
Also, Melo must accept mentally that he will no longer be considered the first option on any NBA team. He needs to correctly adapt to any situation he’s in, which would surely give him more opportunities moving forward. Another reason why Brooklyn would be a great landing spot is that Melo would be playing in his hometown, which usually brings out the best in professional athletes.
For a player to be deemed better than “sixty to seventy percent” of the league, he is too talented for GM Sean Marks pass up on. While Melo continues to be praised by players, former players, trainers, and coaches, he won’t be on the market forever.
So if the Nets don’t take their chance now, another team will.
