Anthony Rendon, 2B/3B

A person can dream, right? Anthony Rendon has had an MVP type season this year, his first without marquee player Bryce Harper in the lineup. Rendon has stepped up and become one of the factors which made Washington a huge threat in the National Leauge.

More from Empire Writes Back

This season, Rendon is batting a staggering .329 with a career-high 29 home runs and 104 runs batted in. He has become one of the leaders for the Washington Nationals. Fresh off his All-Star selection, he may also be on his way out of Washington as he seems ready to at least explore other destinations.

The Nats slugger is currently on a 12-game hitting streak, in which he is 22-for-53, with four home runs and five doubles. He has dominated at the right time. Teams will be certainly reaching into their wallets to have him on their roster next year.

Of course, the Mets would love Anthony Rendon as he hasn’t necessarily been easy to deal with when the Mets play against him. Paying for him is a different story. The Mets haven’t had the best success when overpaying for a player, that’s when they do of course. Just like Castellanos, Rendon would be an even bigger upgrade over Todd Frazier. Tony Two Bags would essentially be a perfect fit in New York.

With the season Rendon is having, the Mets would be foolish to not even consider the impact Rendon would have for them. An additional bonus of bringing him in is that it takes his bat away from a division rival.
