After being in the rock bottom of the American Leauge with the Detroit Tigers, before the deadline, Nick Castellanos has been thriving on his new team with the Chicago Cubs. Ever since joining the Cubbies, he’s hitting .375 with eight home runs and 14 runs batted in. Additionally, he had a hit in his first nine games with Chicago.

Todd Frazier will be a free agent at the end of the year, and while being a good signing for the Mets, injuries, and lack of hitting (.233 batting average) have been some red flags. It would be best if the Mets look for a new everyday third baseman who is younger and can fit into the team long-term.

Castellanos can get on base and be a constant threat in the lineup every day. His “every day is opening day” mentality could spread like wildfire across the New York Mets clubhouse. He would be a great presence on the team.

Obviously, hitting is not the only thing needed from someone, we can hope can be an everyday third baseman or outfielder, defensively. Castellanos is a below-average fielder and that may be one thing the Mets may shy away from when looking to add another hot bat their roster.
