The New York Yankees are winning games with whoever is healthy enough to play nowadays and haven’t shown any signs of slowing down. Clint Frazier is hopeful of returning and contributing again to the Major League squad.

There hasn’t been much talk of the New York Yankees slugger outfielder Clint Frazier since his embarrassing night defensively a few months ago. The controversial hitter recently opened up about his role currently in the Yankees minor league system and hopeful plan to return to the main roster this season.

Frazier was a valuable offensive weapon for the Yankees when All-Star outfielder Aaron Judge missed a few months due to injury. He was batting .283 with 11 home runs and 34 RBIs in only 53 games with the Yankees this season impressing everyone around the league. The only issue was his apparent defensive issues in the outfield compiling obvious problems judging fly balls and cutting off line drives heading towards him.

The 24-year-old high-level prospect spoke out recently in an interview about his current displeasure with his minor league stint and working to be better defensively.

"“It’s crazy that I’m not in the big leagues, It’s one of those things where I know I’m not a finished product, but I don’t know if anyone is a finished product up there. I think I need to be tested against major league pitching and defense in the outfield in every aspect. But I’m not the one who makes those decisions, so I’m going to continue to help the Scranton RailRiders while I can.”"

Frazier is with the Yankees AAA affiliate and has been since June because of the outfield problems, but many believe it was his dismissive attitude with the media that hurt his chances. Yankees general manager Brian Cashman has been able to use players like Mike Tauchman and Cameron Maybin instead of Frazier. This further implies it’s more than just a defensive focus problem. According to Frazier, he had a frank conversation with Cashman before being sent down to AAA to work on his overall game.

"“I can’t be mad about my situation, Ultimately, I put myself here, said Frazier in the interview“All my energy is going into being a defender because if I’m fortunate to get that call back, man, I want to be in the outfield and turn heads and people be like, ‘Wow, this guy has been working down there.”"

The positive from this situation is that the Yankees haven’t entirely given up on Frazier who was expected by many to be dealt by last month’s trade deadline.

It will be interesting to see if Frazier will be given another chance this season because of his exciting offensive talent or be prepared for a winter hot stove of trade rumors.
