Brooklyn Nets: Predicting their 2019-2020 regular-season record
By Alan Mena
The Brooklyn Nets were one of the teams that struck the free agency gold mine after acquiring Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving this summer. Here is a sensible prediction of their 2019-2020 regular-season record.
After a historic NBA offseason, the Brooklyn Nets are sharing the free agency crown this summer with the Los Angeles Clippers. The teams arguably own the most successful free agency period over the last ten years since the Miami Heat in 2010.
Brooklyn can solidify the summer of 2019 as the most successful free agency period (in recent memory) if they end up winning more championships than the Clippers do in the next several years. Only time will tell if Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving can win more championships than Kawhi Leonard and Paul George.
With KD likely sidelined for the entire upcoming season, Kyrie Irving is looking forward to a fresh start in Brooklyn with growing championship aspirations after the conclusion of this season.
Predicting their regular-season record
According to The Ringer, the Brooklyn Nets over/under betting total for wins opened up at forty-seven games, only five more wins than last years’ team. The question that arises is will the Nets be only five games better (record-wise) next season?

Furthermore, the odds are likely in the Nets favor to exceed their win total from last season. That’s due to the exciting potential of the 2019-20 roster. Kyrie, DeAndre Jordan, Taurean Prince, Wilson Chandler, and Garrett Temple will integrate themselves into Kenny Atkinson’s system.
Keep in mind that most of Brooklyn’s offseason acquisitions include veteran players who have ample playoff experience. That’s in contrast to the Nets much younger and less experienced team that got bounced by Philly in the first round last year.
Additionally, Spencer Dinwiddie is among one of the best backup point guards in the league, Jarrett Allen is a talented rim-protector, Caris LeVert is a budding star while Joe Harris is one of the best three-point shooters in the NBA. So, even without their best player they still have Kyrie and quite a talented roster to rely on for this upcoming season.
If the Nets are fortunate enough to not suffer any major injuries, they will finish at least fifth in the Eastern Conference.
Prediction: 2019-2020 regular season record: 50-32
The Brooklyn Nets will flourish in their first season with Kyrie Irving while they have their sights set on dominating the league upon KD’s return.
