Noah Syndergaard needs to finish his career with the New York Mets
The New York Mets have had a few players in their franchise’s history that have made such an impact. It would be odd to see them in another team’s uniform. Noah Syndergaard should also become a member of that list after surviving another trade deadline.
Another trade deadline has come and gone for the New York Mets and starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard remains a member of the team. The rumors were swirling heavier than usual this season as the team only a few weeks ago seemed to be seeking a quick rebuild for the offseason.
In a bit of a surprise, the Mets decided to only bring in more talent with the addition of Toronto Blue Jays All-Star Marcus Stroman to the rotation. The move began to tear away the probability of “Thor” being dealt, but he kept us readily informed along the way as usual via social media. Syndergaard appeared to be very loose throughout the process as he dominated his most recent start against the Chicago White Sox before Wednesday’s deadline.
Mets manager Mickey Callaway praised his star pitcher for the incredible performance while speaking with the postgame media.
"“Wow. He was electric,” Mickey Callaway said. “I thought he had all pitches working. To pitch that deep in the game, he did a tremendous job. That was probably the best I’ve seen him.”"
The news followed shortly that the Mets were keeping Syndergaard and he continued to make light of the situation posting a video from Leonardo DiCaprio’s “I’m Staying” scene in the movie “Wolf Of Wall Street” much to delight of his fans.
The Mets are playing well so far since the All-Star break, but it’s still a longshot that they will make the playoffs this season. Syndergaard surviving another trade deadline is further proof that he should ultimately remain a member of the Mets for an extended period. There isn’t a person in the fanbase going to compare his impact to former captain David Wright, but he has managed to keep the organization entertaining positively.
The fun disputes with mascot Mr. Met involving Mrs. Met and continuing to play off his resemblance to “Thor” the popular Marvel Comics character. Syndergaard has made an impact on the Mets community that should continue to grow and eventually make him the face of the franchise for years to come.
The Mets have been an embattled group for years now and need a player that fans will always identify with and genuinely enjoys being apart of the team’s legacy.
