New York Giants: Expect a better sophomore season from Saquon Barkley
A new game
It’s unfortunate the G-Men are likely going absolutely nowhere this season. For the most part, this team is in a transition. It could be Eli Manning’s final season with his heir, Daniel Jones, waiting on the sideline to step in. Manning deserves to go out with a better team.

It has been many seasons of suspect offensive lines and rotating wide receivers for Manning in the sunset of his career. The QB has always remained a staple of the franchise. A position that gets him much of the blame when the team underperforms.
Now the G-Men have a way to take some of the responsibility for their success off Manning’s shoulders. They will turn the offensive over to the run game, partly out of need, but mostly out of deference to the man who many feel is the best back in the NFL.
By leaving the offense in Barkley’s hands, the New York Giants are changing their identity. General Manager Dave Gettleman built the G-Men to be a ground and pound team again, despite the fact the NFL game in 2019 is played more in the air. Expect to see lots of Barkley left, Barkley right, but mostly Barkley between the tackles.
Manning now has his bell-cow running back and an improved group of “hog-mollies” in front of him to clear the way. All that’s left is to do is hand the ball off. It’s a risk that is worth trying when Big Blue has a superstar as talented as Saquon Barkley.
