Realistic expectations for the New York Giants in 2019
The New York Giants are coming off yet another bad season in which they went 5-11. That being said, what can we expect going into 2019?
The New York Giants finished last in the NFC East for the second consecutive season in 2018 with a 5-11 record. However, there were some bright moments, mostly thanks to rookie running back, Saquon Barkley who won the 2018 Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Barkley became only the third rookie in NFL history to notch 3,000 all-purpose yards, joining the likes of Eric Dickerson and Edgerrin James. With that Barkley has been dubbed one of the best running backs in the NFL and for being as young as he is, he has some of the most potential in the league.
Another player who was on the Giants with some serious potential who has broken many records in the past was Odell Beckham jr. Beckham and Barkley together were one of the most dangerous duos in the NFL, but unfortunately for Giants fans, we will never see them take the field together again.
The Giants traded Odell Beckham jr. to the Cleveland Browns for Jabrill Peppers, the 17th overall pick, which the Giants used on Clemson DT, Dexter Lawrence and the 95th overall pick, which the Giants used on Old Dominion LB, Oshane Ximines.
The Giants offense is going to look very different going into 2019 without Odell Beckham jr. who has been their top wide receiver since drafting him in 2014.
Not only will it look different because the Giants won’t have Beckham, but they may also have a new quarterback in sixth overall pick, Daniel Jones out of Duke.
Nonetheless, this is a new look Giants team with several players signing elsewhere, being replaced, or being traded over the offseason. So with that being said, here are a couple of things you can realistically expect out of this new look Giants squad in 2019.
