The New York Yankees are looking to add to their starting rotation. Someone they could look to is former World Series hero, Madison Bumgarner.

The New York Yankees entered the season with World Series aspirations. That’s always going to be the mission in the Bronx. After losing in the American League Division Series last year, they reloaded hoping to make a run at the organization’s first title since 2009.

Hal Steinbrenner said in the offseason that he believed a team could never have enough starting pitching. Shortly after that, Brian Cashman traded for James Paxton and re-signed J.A. Happ.

Happ had a good stint with the Bombers after being acquired at last season’s trade deadline. Cashman hoped that Paxton could realize his potential slotting next to staff ace Luis Severino. In bringing back Happ, the Yankees passed on top of the line starter Patrick Corbin, who signed a deal worth more than $140 million with Washington.

They went with a more cost-efficient option in Happ but also signed an inferior pitcher. Corbin has pitched well with the Nats, leading some to wonder how he would have done in pinstripes. That has led the New York Yankees to the trade market as we inch closer to the 2019 deadline.

One player, the Yankees, potentially could be looking to target is San Francisco Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner. Here’s a look into some pros and cons the Yankees will likely consider in their pursuit of Bumgarner.
