Brooklyn Nets: NBA 2K20 reveal ratings for Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant
The annual NBA 2K player rating announcement occurred on Monday, and fans are ready to debate some of this year’s decisions. The Brooklyn Nets duo of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving are amongst the reveal.
Everybody in the sports world has praised the Brooklyn Nets since their signings of marquee free agents Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. The addition of top tier talent to the team brings even more exposure from the entity’s outside of playing basketball. In this case, it’s the gaming community putting the team front and center.
Earlier in the week, 2K sports held a special live stream to reveal some of the top NBA 2K20 ratings heading into the 2019-20 NBA season. The panel of experts led by Ronnie 2K included multiple-time All-Star and newly acquired Los Angeles Lakers forward, Anthony Davis. They publicly broke down the top 20 individual player ratings in the game and gave their opinions on each decision.
Irving barely missed the infamous top 10 eventually coming at number 11 according to the 2K sports staff. Irving still garnered a rating of 91, and Ronnie 2K spoke candidly regarding a past reveal he wasn’t too happy about.
"“Thank god he’s a 91 because two years ago when we told him he was an 89 he almost blew a gasket. He’s home he’s where he wants to be he’s a Brooklyn Net. He’s alone for a while so it will be interesting his usage and what his rating will be at the end of the year.”"
Durant, however, was once again in the top 5 regardless of his injury that will most likely hold him out until the following year. The former Texas Longhorn earned a rating of 96 good enough for fourth amongst all players. Ronnie 2K explained the rating as well from the live stream.
"“What can this guy not do? but with the injury, it’s always challenging when guys are coming off an injury in terms of a 2K rating.”"
The top three overall player ratings were with no surprise Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kawhi Leonard and LeBron James. The duo of Irving and Durant scored an average rating of 93.5 placing them third in that category behind James, Davis of the Lakers and Kawhi, Paul George of the revamped Los Angeles Clippers.
The video game simulation ratings are out, but the real test is when these guys truly hit the court in Brooklyn and provide proof to their rankings.
