This is less so an expectation and more so something long overdue.

The Knicks MUST trade Frank Ntilikina during the 2019-20 season. The Knicks selected Frank Ntilikina with the eighth overall pick in the 2017 draft and an average of 21.6 minutes per game, Ntilikina has averaged 5.9 points, 2.2 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game throughout his first two seasons.

Ntilikina is not known for his offense, and he is an excellent player on the defensive end, but at some point, you have to realize that one or the other isn’t good enough and you need both.

It’s time for the Knicks to get over themselves, stop giving Ntilikina minutes if he only has an impact on one side of the court and trade him. The Knicks might not get much more than a contract filler and maybe a pick or two for Ntilikina, but that would be worth it if you ask me.

In 21.6 minutes per game, Ntilikina helps account for around 12-16 points. In almost 22 minutes per game, you should be contributing for more than 12-16 points when you add in assists to the table.

Ntilikina has been the epitome of a failed experiment, and the Knicks are only further hurting themselves by keeping him around. Whether he be apart of a bigger package for a big-time player, a straight-up trade involving only him, or whatever it might be, the Knicks must get rid of him before the 2020 offseason rolls around.

Ntilikina is owed more than $11 million over the next two seasons, and you cannot justify giving a guy who averages less than six points per game, that kind of money.

Whether it be a straight-up trade for a pick or two, no matter where it is or if they have to cut him entirely, the Knicks must get rid of him throughout the upcoming season.
