New York Yankees: Three key takeaways from a great first half
Overall
You could mention the fact that Aaron Boone is a candidate for Manager of the Year or the fact that Gary Sanchez is having an incredible bounce-back season, but they don’t overshadow these three. Boone could win the award, but I think Rocco Baldelli of the Twins could make a better case. If he’s able to steal that division from the Indians, it would be hard to deny. Boone deserves it don’t get me wrong, but the amount of talent he has on his team will always put him at a disadvantage to win the award.
Regardless of the positive or negative things that have shown up in the first half of the season, one thing is certain. The New York Yankees are back and have shown that they are one of if not the favorite to make it out of the American League and play in the World Series. They saw a little bit of the Los Angeles Dodgers during the All-Star game, and I have a feeling that we could be seeing something very similar come October.
The chase for 28 is officially on, and there are no excuses this time. No getting embarrassed by the Red Sox this year. If they can’t win a World Series with this team, these bats, and this pitching rotation, I can’t imagine they’ll be able to get it done any time soon.
