What the Knicks currently have…

The Knicks currently have a starting lineup all under the age of 25 if they want, they also have enough veteran presences to push the young rookies and second-year players to earn those minutes. The Knicks only task now is setting proper expectations for the season.

Though many Knicks observers have condemned everything the Knicks have done, are doing and will do all I can see is a team that has finally started to upright a ship that has been upside down for many years now. The Knicks as it stands right now have a team that can be very competitive night in and night out, though they’re devoid of big-name talent it doesn’t mean they are talentless. David Fizdale has been given a gift; the ultimate gift only affords to a handful of coaches in the NBA.

Fizdale has been given the power to shape and mold this young team how he sees fit; the front office has his back. The young players who fought through that horrid Knicks season have his back still, and that is only a testament to how strong he is of a coach. The growth of Kevin Knox and Mitchell Robinson will be one of the essential pieces to the Knicks having strong progression. The Addition of R.J. Barrett and the draft give the Knicks a solid shooting guard and will allow them to deploy Frank Ntilikina in a specialized defensive role to aid his strengths.

The Knicks are in a better position than most will choose to believe, I start to get the feeling of the Atlanta Hawks team that made a surprise playoff run a few years back. Sometimes just having pure talent, and a team willing to outwork and grind other teams is more than enough to win.

Fizdale will teach defense and hustle, and with a young group of athletes and the depth to trust his bench, he may be able to put something special together in Madison Square Garden. The talk of the town are the Brooklyn Nets because of all the tickets and Jersey’s they’ll sell; the focus should remain at MSG for the success that is soon to come.
