Unleashing the winner within

The Mets only path to getting better and winning more is finding it within themselves, take accountability, defy blind leadership and to “just do it.” However, the things they are struggling with, such as coming through in clutch situations, takes time and its not something that can be taught from a wise manager or savvy veterans.

All of these stats are subject to change, but the root causes of them will not.

More from New York Mets

I am no longer worried about if the Mets will get better or worse, we know what they have. The bullpen is going to blow up and their cost const conscious ownership is going to keep holding them back.

But, in terms of winning baseball games, whether they be game against good teams, bad teams, at home, on the road, during the day, during the night, versus righties, versus lefties, we’ve seen the gamut of results. The sample size is large enough to draw a conclusion.

With the all the talent the New York Mets have, including all the ideal players in place, I just don’t know if they have the intestinal fortitude it takes as a team to turn all of their close losses into wins. It’s the close games that make a difference and the Mets just simply are not getting it done.

Maybe it’s ironic that the celebration of the 1969 Miracle Mets happens this weekend, Hopefully, the 2019 Mets can perform some miracles of their own to pull out more wins in spite of all the failures. This team, as a group can’t seem to help themselves and can’t seem to learn how to win.
