With Free Agency fast approaching, the New York Knicks are looking to make big moves. One of them is Julius Randle.

It was reported earlier that Power Forward, Julius Randle shares a mutual interest with the New York Knicks and that there’s a possibility of him coming to play in Madison Square Garden. I had to sit down and think about this move for a bit, as I’ve never really thought about the two parties coinciding until now. With further thought, this would be the perfect move for both sides and would help catapult the Knicks back to relevance in the basketball world.

Coming off the best season of his young career as a member of the New Orleans Pelicans, Randle averaged 21.4 Points, 8.7 Rebounds while shooting 52.4 Percent from the field Per Game. While Anthony Davis was away for a good majority of the season via injury and trade demand, Randle didn’t have to fight for his minutes or share the spotlight with anyone. He was the best player on the Pelicans this year and helped his stock immensely, and it couldn’t have come at a better time for the 24-year-old.

In a Free Agency window where some of the teams are willing to throw money at someone and make them one of the focal points of an organization, Randle is primed to get paid handsomely. Many speculated that he would stay with Zion Williamson, Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingram in New Orleans to build a young, developing super team but with Randle opting out of his contract, that option is basically out the window. Others thought that he would return to Los Angeles where he would give the team that drafted him another try. Both of these scenarios could still happen, but the chances are slim, and the Knicks are chomping at the bit to try and snag the Forward come July 1st.

Randle would bring a lot to the Knicks and with the young core that New York currently has, this deal would not only make sense but would be a scary sign for the rest of the league.
