Doing it the Yankees way

Past Yankees who haven’t had great relationships with the New York media generally don’t have staying power on the team. All of the Yankees that have been able to hit the podium regardless of a good or bad game like Judge, Didi Gregorius, and even Stanton are continuously shown in a positive light by the team and those who cover it.

More from New York Yankees

Other recent New York Yankees legends such Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada, and Mariano Rivera who carried absurd amounts of pressure made themselves available after games. If they can talk to the media day after day, regardless of their play, Frazier can and should do the same.

A good example of Frazier’s lack of maturity is when he grounded into a double play. He hit the ball, stared at it, and then jogged out to first base. After the play, Bombers broadcaster David Cone said on air: “that’s not a good look.” The fans hated it when Gary Sanchez did it in 2018, so what made this situation any different. Nothing.

Frazier is a likable kid. I think he has the talent to be a Major Leaguer. Between situations like this and him completely wiping his Instagram clean of all the memories he had beforehand with the Yankees, shows he has some growing up to do. His demotion to Scranton was totally deserved.

It’s hard to say where the New York Yankees will do with Frazier from here. Do they keep him down in Triple-A and continue his development? Do they use him as trade bait in their efforts land a top pitcher such as Max Scherzer or Trevor Bauer?

We won’t know until GM Brian Cashman comes to a decision. One thing’s for sure, what Frazier has been doing certainly doesn’t represent the New York Yankees way and lacks class. At the end of the day, if he gets traded from his childhood team, it’s from his own doing.
