Poor attitude with the Media

"“I don’t owe an apology for not talking.”~ Clint Frazier"

Part of being a big league player is the ability to own up to your mistakes and not be overly sensitive. It’s even more important when playing in the New York City media mosh pit. This is an extremely tough place to play in, and it’s not for the weak hearted.

Based on his tone with the media and the way he’s responding to questions, it almost seems like Frazier also has a glaring weakness to his off the field game. He feels like he’s being treated unfairly and he’s doesn’t seem regretful, which is not a good sign if you’re a fan listening to what the young man is saying.

Manager Aaron Boone said that these are the types of things that come with being a pro and I couldn’t agree more with him. The media is always going to be there, players generally can’t choose when to talk or not talk to them.

Nobody is saying that any player has to be best friends with the media. They have a job to do too and courtesy is a two-way street. This isn’t the minors anymore. As the starting right fielder on the most historic team in the history of sports, playing in the largest media market in the world, Frazier needs to have thicker skin.

Additionally, respect is earned. A near rookie doesn’t get cut the same slack as a tenured veteran, not that the vets get much, to begin with.
