New York Liberty: WNBA team rosters updated in NBA Live 19
As the video game landscape continues to evolve, EA Sports’ NBA Live 19 did some tweaking to the New York Liberty and the other WNBA team rosters.
One of the fantastic things about video games today is the ability to update throughout a season in real-time to continue to give fans the closest accurate simulation of a game. The unique quality of EA Sports’ NBA Live is the addition of the WNBA from last year’s release creating an instant buzz in the gaming community. The New York Liberty along with the other WNBA squads were added with full rosters and facial scans as an addition to the “Exhibition” game mode.
The NBA season is over so in past games ratings would stop updating in preparation for the next season’s release. The addition of the WNBA allows for more updates on this year’s version as their season is throughout the summer. EA has just released a significant upgrade to the WNBA rosters adding rookies, recent transactions, and overall player gear updates to match the current product.

One of the most significant changes in NBA Live 19 was the ability to add WNBA players in the special female “create a player” feature. The female player can now be used in streetball tournaments alongside current WNBA stars or past NBA legends.
Los Angeles Sparks forward Candace Parker spoke about the inclusion of the WNBA in NBA Live back during the game’s release last fall. She focused on the importance of the league’s visibility.
"“I think in order for it to grow, you need to see it and that’s what it’s doing now,” she started. “You see it on games, you see it on television, internet, social media, things like that. So, I think just visibility has helped our game so much and, obviously, the WNBA has been around for a very, very long time and I hope to make it better and leave it better than I came into it.”"
The growth of the WNBA’s presence in all forms of media is critical in the league’s long term success. Teams like the Liberty have been apart of the league since it was beginnings 23 years ago and they continue to hold the attention of everyone involved in the league regardless of wins and losses.
