The fallout from New York Yankees outfielder Clint Frazier’s poor performance Sunday night has been intense, but the young slugger needs to move on quickly

The New York Yankees failed in their attempt to sweep their longtime rivals, the Boston Red Sox on Sunday night but walked away with more questions regarding another outfielder. Clint Frazier has been no stranger to attention since his first call up to the Major Leagues a few years ago. His aggressive hitting style has made him a favorite in the organization and fan base, but his defensive failures have made him an obvious liability.

Three critical mistakes playing right field was the topic of discussion for Frazier as he just never seemed comfortable playing the position all night. The Red Sox took full advantage on their way to an 8-5 victory at Yankees Stadium, halting the home team’s positive momentum.

Frazier was reportedly unavailable to speak with the media after the game initially seen by many as a snub or cowardly act of defiance. It wasn’t until later that evening ESPN reporter, Coley Harvey tweeted that he had actually spoken with Frazier regarding the rough night.

"“I’ve been working really hard every day with (OF coach) Reggie (Willits) before BP starts and despite what has been happening during the game, I’m still confident in myself to be able to turn this around soon … It’s tough to cost the team runs and a potential win especially when playing at home against Boston. Things keep happening that shouldn’t and I’m acknowledging that with all of the early work I’m doing before games.”"

Frazier is currently playing the position typically held down by All-Star Aaron Judge but due to the many injuries facing the team this season, he is needed in the role daily. The 24-year old, Georgia native is still one of the team’s best hitters as he’s batting .272 with 10 home runs and 28 RBI’s since being called up from the minors. The likelihood of Frazier being demoted or traded before Judge or Giancarlo Stanton return from injury is nonexistent if you’re manager Aaron Boone. He’s too productive at the plate.

Next. Knicks should trade the third overall pick. dark

Frazier does need to improve his fielding quickly if he wants to secure himself a big role on the roster when everyone is healthy. It’s very tough for Boone to play him as a designated hitter when he doesn’t want to take at-bats away from arguably the team’s top hitter Gary Sanchez on non-catching games. It will be a tough watch for the next month or so Yankees fans but rest assured help is on the way.
