The Bats

This next one is just a crappy situation, but it has to be done. Clint Frazier is starting to turn into a bit of a head case. He’s been so hell-bent on keeping his spot on the Yankees that the mental aspect of his game is affecting the way he performs on the field.

His batting average has dipped from as high as .351 to now .272. His glove has been atrocious out in right field which is a surprise. He’s never been this poor in the field, not even in the minor leagues. As much as I along with many other Yankee fans like him, it’s unrealistic to think that he’ll get playing time once the bigger players come back.

Why not use him in this trade and get arguably the best ace in baseball? Frazier will get a spot in Washington’s lineup and will be an asset the day he steps onto the field in D.C. He’ll finally be able to play without the constant worry of messing up because he could lose his spot the next day. A trade to the re-tooling Nats could ultimately help his career and he deserves it.

As for Stanton, he was the blockbuster signing of last summer. He’s handled the boo’s of Yankee Stadium well and has even had some of his own great Yankee moments. Unfortunately, by all accounts, this has been a failed experiment.

First, Stanton is a one-position player. If you put him anywhere else but right field, he doesn’t have the whereabouts to even be half decent in any other place.  He’s not taking the job over Judge and there are just too many players that can currently bat at DH for New York if he stays.

Yes, he’s a former National League MVP, he can give you 50 plus homers a year and bat .275. It seems however that the American League isn’t the right league for him. It would be good for the slugger to go back to his NL East roots in Washington and have an everyday Right Field job. That’s why I think he would want to actually go there if the opportunity was put on the table by the Yankees front office.
