I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, this is a ragtag group of guys that can just flat out hoop on a nightly basis. Brooklyn is a scary matchup for anyone in the NBA because they will always be playing with house money until their stars reach their primes or sign a few marquee Free Agents.

Tobias Harris and Bobby Portis definitely aren’t as big of names as Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant, but that’s not what the Brooklyn Nets need to become an elite team. Unlike the Knicks, they have their foundation set in multiple players and are on the road to being an Eastern Conference contender.

With one borderline all-star to go alongside Russell, LaVert, Harris, and Allen, there’s no telling what this Nets team can do. They gave Philadelphia all they could handle for five games and made a point that even though they lost the series. They’re here to stick around for a long time.

The bench depth that this team sports with Spencer DinwiddieRondae Hollis-JeffersonEd DavisShabazz Napier, Allen Crabbe, and Jared Dudley, shows that a win doesn’t just have to come from their main starters. It can come from a full team effort.

I hope for the organization’s sake that they do everything they can to hold on to Russell because he’s the key to signing bigger name free agents. This team isn’t caught up in the drama and don’t care about the negative media or the haters. All they want to do is play basketball and go out and shock the world which I think they’ll end up doing sooner rather than later. After all, they don’t call it #Brooklyngrit for anything.
