Power Forward: Bobby Portis

This was actually going to be Julius Randle before it was reported that Phoenix had a mutual interest in acquiring the free agent power forward to be. So Brooklyn moves on to bigger and better things am I right? Bigger and better things like Bobby Portis!

The 24-year-old appeared in 50 games last season while splitting his season with the Chicago Bulls and Washington Wizards. For 2018-19 Portis averaged 14.2 points and his shooting numbers that helped him reach the highest scoring totals of his career were very impressive as well. The fourth-year player shot 44.4 percent from the field and was able to stretch towards the perimeter, shooting the three-ball at 39.3 percent.

His 26 minutes played per game were the highest of his career to date. It definitely shows the type of baller he could be with players around him like the ones Brooklyn has. Many players such as Russell, Harris, and sometimes LeVert had similar offensive traits to a Wizards teammate that Portis had great chemistry with over this past season, Bradley Beal. A player that can create his own shot and is lethal once they get going from beyond the three-point line.

With Beal being rumored as part of a deal with the Los Angeles Lakers. It’s highly likely that we could see Portis want an exit, following Beal’s departure to the west coast. Where the big man could land is uncertain, but one thing is sure, he’s a talented asset that isn’t asking for too much at the moment. The Brooklyn Nets have the money to make a move and sign him.

Portis is not Randle, but he’s not a bad consolation prize.
