Center: Mitchell Robinson

Mitchell Robinson got snubbed off of the All-Rookie first team, simple as that. This guy is the next great Knicks big man and his first season should tell you why. In 66 games played, the 7’1 Center was second in the NBA in Blocks Per Game (2.4) only behind Myles Turner by .25 for league best. He’s a force on the defensive end of the floor and his offensive game is only going to improve throughout his career. Although he didn’t burst onto the scene, Robinson made his presence known over the second half of the season.

The 21-year-old averaged 7.3 PPG on 69.4 percent from the field, but with 19 points as a career high, it’s a promising sign for years to come. Robinson played a little over 20 minutes a night, but his Per 36 Minutes stats are foreshadowing of Defensive Player of the Year and All-Star caliber numbers.

Per 36 minutes, he averages 12.8 points, 11.2 rebounds (with 4.7 offensive rebounds) and 4.3 blocks. Those really are video game numbers and the scary part is that all of this could actually come true. Even with a stacked rookie class, Robinson still has a chance to stand out and shine above the rest. His Player Efficiency Rating was the highest of any rookie (22.01) and although he may be an incredibly raw player, his foundation is a great one to build off of.

If Robinson can harness even half of that potential, he’ll be a top Center in the NBA in no time and will be a focal point to the Knicks.
