New York Knicks: A realistic look at the 2019-20 starting lineup
Small Forward: Harrison Barnes
This is up in the air and depends on if he declines his player option with the Sacramento Kings, but this would be a really solid addition to the Knicks if he did. It feels like Harrison Barnes has been in the league forever. In reality, he is going into his eighth season.
The 27-year-old from the University of North Carolina could make a great career move by going to play in Madison Square Garden. Coming off a 16.4 PPG season, Barnes would provide a great scoring punch at the Small Forward position for the Knicks.
Something that people also may overlook in his game is that he works well with younger players and provides a veteran presence to any team he suits up for. A 2014-15 NBA Champion, Barnes is seasoned and understands what it takes to make a deep postseason run, playing in all 82 games the year he won his ring.
He’s been able to make impressions and lead the young Kings team on and off the court. Although the Kings went 9-16 after the All-Star break, it showed that Barnes was able to add to the total scoring margin of the team bumping their overall PPG from 113.4 to 116.0. He was also an asset for the rebuilding Mavericks in the prior season.
As a second or third option on the offensive end, Barnes can transform a team, that team could and should be the Knicks.
