The greatest basketball player on the planet will be an unrestricted free agent, shortly after the Golden State Warriors win yet another title. The crazy part is, Kevin Durant is actually favored to sign with the New York Knicks!

According to Bleacher Report, the Knicks odds of singing Durant are at +120, which is the equivalent of a 45.5 percent chance he ends up on Broadway. Knicks fans have heard those kinds of odds before. This time, however, ping pong balls have nothing to do with it.

It will likely take more than a max contract to bring KD to New York. The Knicks will have to put together an enticing offer that assures that the Slim Reaper that won’t have to carry the team all by himself. Another superstar HAS to join him.

Kyrie Irving, UFA

Knicks fans totally didn’t read too much into Kyrie Irving and Durant’s All-Star Game exchange. They knew it was just two superstars talking privately about “2 max spots.” Absolutely nothing to see here!

But seriously, if Irving, who just 27-years-old, makes the decision to sign in NYC, the likelihood that Durant follows becomes much higher. While Irving did struggle in the playoffs this year, he is still one of the best point guards in the league and a former NBA champion. His experience and overall play would instantly change the course of the young and talented Knicks core.
