The entire basketball world is talking about the Knicks situation and how they won’t be getting Zion Williamson. But the team they should be talking about the other team in New York, the Brooklyn Nets.

The Brooklyn Nets made the playoffs this season for the first time since 2014-15. Next month will be the first time since 2013 the Nets will be using their own first-round pick in the NBA draft.

Everyone remembers the notorious trade where the Nets dealt away several picks for washed-up stars in Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Jason Terry. Finally, the terrible trade has run its course, which means the Nets own their own first round pick for the first time in six years.

But who will they take with their pick? Thanks to the fact that the Brooklyn Nets made the playoffs this season, they will be picking outside of the lottery, as they hold the 17th overall pick. The question is, who will be available when the 17th pick rolls around?

Everyone is focused on the top three picks which are guaranteed to be Zion Williamson, Ja Morant, and RJ Barrett, but what many people don’t realize is that this is a very deep draft, teams can end up with solid, NBA-ready players from anywhere in this draft.

That is exactly what the Nets have an opportunity to do with their pick, should they decide to keep it. The Nets top priority for this season needs to be bringing back their star, D’Angelo Russell. Beyond that, they need to build around him as he is clearly their best player.

The Nets also have several other solid players such as Jarrett Allen, Spencer Dinwiddie, and a few others. Today, we look at some players the Nets might get with the 17th pick who could help the team make a run at the Eastern Conference Championship.
