Quarterbacks

Not much has changed here, Eli Manning will once again be the starter going in 2019, and will most likely be the starter going into the 2020 season as well. Gettleman feels that he made the most with this position by keeping the aging Manning in place for this year, at least.

The New York Giants drafted Daniel Jones, aka “that quarterback from Duke” with the 6th overall pick (I’ll keep my opinion to myself). The facts are Daniel Jones, at 6-4 is a good-sized quarterback, with average arm strength who shows some moxie and toughness. He may develop into an average starter, but my prediction is that he’ll be a good place holder for the next young quarterback.

If the Giants keep three quarterbacks, there will be a good camp battle between holdovers, Alex Tanney, Kyle Lauletta, and undrafted rookie Ryan Dungey. All three QBs are young and all three bring a different style to this offense. With one rookie guaranteed to make the roster, look for either Tanney or Lauletta to make the team.

Personally, I’d like to see Dungey, step in as the undrafted player and make a strong case for sticking around. I was a big fan of the dedication at Syracuse and believe he has the mental toughness to be a solid back up in the league. Additionally, he is a good athlete and can help the team in other areas.
