Bell is the man they need, but don’t deserve

Quite frankly, the New York Jets just don’t deserve a prime time talent like Bell. Let me clarify though, the fans deserve him, but the dumpster fire of an organization doesn’t. Through all of the crap the three-time pro-bowler has been put through, he’s handled this situation with class and seems to truly want to be a part of the team.

To quiet the noise about any speculated rift, Bell took to social media to assure fans that he was going to worry about playing his game and proving to the Jets that he was worth the money they spent on him. I have to give Bell credit where credit is due. This is a guy who has been put through the wringer when it comes to being attacked on social media and he’s a very passionate, emotional dude.

He could have easily taken the ‘soft’ way like his now former teammate, wide receiver Antonio Brown did and complain about the media buzz. Instead, he wants to let his game do the talking and regardless of the uniform, he’s going to prove a point this upcoming year.

In his five active NFL seasons, the former Michigan State back has averaged over a thousand yards a year. He is clearly one of the best rushers in the game when healthy and willing to go. Additionally, Bell will be able to give quarterback Sam Darnold another passing option out of the backfield as he’s been able to rack up 2660 receiving yards in his career.

Bell is one of the league’s best all-around running backs and is considered to be a top tier talent on any given team. That’s why this quagmire is such a head-scratcher. It makes me believe that although Gase will benefit Darnold’s growth, he won’t help the overall state of the team.
